ASUS ROG High-end Gaming Laptop

-"ASUS ROG G75JT 17 Inch Gaming Laptop"

The ASUS ROG (Republic of Gamers) G75JT is an excellent high-end laptop that features a dedicated Geforce GTX 970M GPU. That means that even most recently released games are playable on this system with higher settings enabled. It also features a sleek and durable design, comes with a built-in G-SYNC monitor, and specially designed game keys. Read on for a more in-depth look at this laptop.

I. SPECS

  • Specially-designed Game Keys.

The most important component to any build is of course the GPU, but that doesn't mean that the other components are worthless. They all play their roles to keep the GPU fed with data.

1.) Intel Core i7 4720HQ Quad-Core CPU

-This mobile Intel processor is a high-end model based on its "Skylake" architecture featuring 4 cores (with hyperthreading for a total of 8 threads) with 6 MB of L3 cache. While its base clock-speed is 2.6 GHZ, it can turbo up to 3.6 GHZ. However, when playing games, that turbo is more like 3.4-3.5 ghz on all cores, which is still a nice bump in speed. Its suffice to say that this processor has enough power to last more than a few years, which is pretty important with a laptop.

2.) Nvidia Geforce GTX 970M 3GB GPU

-This laptop features a high-end Nvidia mobile GPU, the GTX 970m. This GPU is based on Nvidia's "Maxwell" architecture and features 1280 cuda cores. It also features memory bandwidth speeds of 120 GB/s, comes with 3GBs of DDR5 memory on a 192-bit bus, and is clocked at 924 Mhz (1038 Mhz with boost). This GPU will provide an awesome gaming experience, especially to those who crave both power and mobility.

3.)  16GB DDR3 Memory

-Atleast 8GB of RAM should be the basic amount of system memory you should accept when choosing a laptop to game with. Most newer titles have 8GB as the recommended required amount, so if you want to game without causing a lot of stuttering during gameplay and long pauses during load times, make sure the system you select comes with atleast this amount. As you can see, the G75JT has got you covered in this aspect, and with 16GB of memory at that.

4.) 1TB 7200 RPM Hardrive

-Even though this laptop doesn't come with an SSD, it does feature a nicely sized HDD to make up for it. With PC games becoming so large in size {30-60 gigs apiece}, your going to need this amount space to house them plus your videos, photos, apps and data. Its just big enough to give you a little head room when deciding just what you want to keep on your HDD. Also, you could always add an SSD to this system at a later time.

5.) Windows 10 64-bit

-With this gaming laptop, your getting a copy of Windows 10 with the system. Without a Windows operating system, you could not play 75-80% of the games that are available, not to mention being locked out from using the plethora of apps that is available for the platform. Its pretty much a must have if you plan to game on your laptop.

6.) Other Components

- This laptop comes with a 1080p matte display monitor that features built-in G-sync technology. It also has an 802.11 a/c wireless adapter, a dual layer DVD-RW, 4 USB ports, a Thunderbolt 2 port, Intelligent Thermal Design tech, weighs 8.4 pounds, and has an average battery life of 4.5 hours.

II. PERFORMANCE

-This will give you an idea about how much performance you can expect to get out of this system from 4 recently released games. These benchmarks will show you just how many frames this system can pump out and at what type of settings you could play on decently enough. Remember that 30 fps and up provides a smooth experience, with higher frames giving smoother gameplay. Every game differs in requirements with the most demanding games requiring more powerful hardware to run at full settings.

This laptop can handle some of the most demanding games at 1080p, with some games hitting over 50 fps. Overall, the G75 was able to keep all tested games above 30 fps at ultra settings. If your looking for a laptop that will last you a few years, then the G75JT is the one for you.

ProsPretty powerful high-end laptop that would serve greatly to those want a powerful laptop to take around with them, or serve as a complete gaming system at home.

ConsThe performance of this system, while great, is still lacking the power to run current games fluently at higher resolutions than 1080p, especially if you desire playable frame-rates in 1440p or higher resolutions.

A good choice if you want a powerful high-end laptop that will
give you rather decent performance in 1080p at ultra settings.
